Like most cow dogs, as a youngster, I was sometimes impetuous, did things my own way, maybe a little too exuberant. Oh yes, it was joy de vivre, but sometimes run amuck. Just like I learned how to turn a herd, patiently direct them through a gate, and hold them in the right corner of a pasture, as I grew I channeled that energy into a solid purpose. I directed my thought and action to what is good and true and right. I became an effective and real good cow dog. Not a bad purpose for this one brief precious life!
I watch people today – rude, angry, purposeless. Reason is skewed, distorted, lost. Maybe a bunch of us Heelers should march on Washington, where a few nips and talented redirection would stir up a change. People need to straighten up, learn some civility, show mercy and kindness – and those who accuse others of hate, or intolerance or differing views – need to quit whining and try practicing that themselves.
It would seem right now, the world needs more cowdogs to get things under control, teach character traits, organize. And I have a couple friends who will stop by once in awhile to help do so. Grip and his young friend Gumption [we all call him Gump] will serve up their own brand of relentless wit and wisdom. Like most Heelers, they have a good attitude and definite opinions. They know right from wrong. They will bring forgotten guidelines for living a useful and decent life. Meet my friends:
