Grip up, America!

Funny how fast things change…

You know, I was looking forward to Grip and Gump visiting this week, and I was going to share a Ladysmith List of my favorite dinner menu. All that changed this morning at 3AM.

The phone rang and scared us all. Calls at that time of night are alarming. But we knew something might happen. Mom has been watching Sprout a lot lately because his mom, the daughter Jess,  kept going to see a doctor a long ways away. Well, it turns out that Sprout’s “baby brudder”, as he calls him, was threatening to come early, and this morning he got tired of waiting! This pup was 5 weeks early!

I heard a special plane called a Life-flight came up from the big city for them, then they decided the boy was just not going to wait even that long. So the baby was born, flown to the NICU for preemies, and mom was following soon after. What an answer to prayer – they are all well – dad, too.  But how quickly and  completely our little plans can be changed.

Life will charge at you with all the unpredictable force of a charging bull, and you better just be ready to take it as it comes.

We can even be planning for the expected, but there may still be more twists and turns than the creek that runs through my cow pasture.

We all need an anchor sometimes, to keep us still before the unforeseen.  Try to handle it all with gratitude and grace. Grip up and carry on, and it helps to trust in the Lord and pray with all your might.

I’m going to take a long nap today,

then buy this great new baby memento for the little one, even though it may be awhile before I get to see him. Mom told me this isn’t quite right for this new baby, but I liked this neat picture frame, too.

And I’m going to share my favorite toy with him.

                                                         Welcome baby boy.

Welcome!

I am Ladysmith, a Blue Heeler. I live in central Montana with the people I rescued; my dad, a crusty old cowboy who swore he would never have another dog last time, but has been completely smitten by me ever since we met. My mom, a kind writer and artist, who knows I am a angel sent from heaven, and helps me with this endeavor.
