A Cowdogs Advice

Grip up, America!

There is Something About a Truck

02/24/2022 by ladysmith@cowdogsadvice.com

There is something about a truck, with size and sound that will rumble the earth,  lights and shine, trucks just rev it up and take a stand. They have a way of making their point.

And it looks like a lot of the drivers behind the wheel have taken one heck of a stand – for freedom, for right, for a limit to tyranny. They protest ridiculous government restrictions and vaccine mandates. And there are still more Freedom convoys organizing and joining the cause – in the US, Israel, France and others.

Now I’m a truck-ridin’ dog. This old Heeler would like to be riding in one of those big rigs on the northern border! It seems to me someone had to draw a line and stand strong, in the face of corrupt government controls. It is the kind of thing a cowdog would do, you know.

Get a few of us together, and you can expect an organized plan of grit, commitment, clarity, right, courage – just what these truckers are doing.

If you think about it, nearly everything we use depends on those truckers. The shutdowns between the US and Canada cost a billion dollars a day in commerce. Thanks to self-serving politicians and an over-hyped virus, there has been supply chain troubles for a couple of years now – then they parked and took a stand. Everyone is affected; within 24 hours of no trucks rolling, there would be complete absence in food, healthcare, fuel, manufacturing, waste, banking, mail. There would be no dog food, no beef, no toys or treats. No catfood.

And there would be panic.

There was a time, long ago, when an upstart bunch of citizens took a stand against government control and unreasonable power. It was the culmination of a decade of bullying. There was many tax increases, forcing rules that served the politicians – closing harbors, replacing local government with chosen appointees, taking over buildings for government use, and more taxes.

Then the gutsy colonists took a stand. A scrappy  United States of America began!

There already is a serious shortage of truck drivers here. We should be willing to tighten our belts, make no complaints about lacking supplies, prepare, and stand strong with the brave drivers who are fed up with government over-reach.

And now, across the globe, an unprovoked invasion on the horizon – that certainly won’t improve things.

I lift a paw to these men and women of courage, who fight for right. They have a vision and integrity. It is time to speak out about corruption, tyranny, take-over. I’d do it with a growl and a bit of nipping, I suppose. You won’t cancel a cowdog!

Even without the threat of transportation disruptions, this increasingly intolerable winter is enough to get you thinking about readiness. This week we had days in the forties -pretty nice for February in the northern Rockies – followed by wind and storm warnings, then a brutal free-fall drop of 60 degrees.

We  are digging out of several days with highs below zero, snow and wind. We plan for this out on the ranch of course, but just getting in and out, to town, is itself a fair interruption to the supply chain, I tell you. Maybe everyone should prepare a bit.

Stay vigilant. Plan and supply. Go back to the guidebook – the bible. Keep backing those who are taking a stand against unreasonable mandates and political bullying, discern wrong from right.

For now, I’ll ride in my big old pickup, rumble down the road and raise a paw or a bark to every big rig we pass.

Welcome!

I am Ladysmith, a Blue Heeler. I live in central Montana with the people I rescued; my dad, a crusty old cowboy who swore he would never have another dog last time, but has been completely smitten by me ever since we met. My mom, a kind writer and artist, who knows I am a angel sent from heaven, and helps me with this endeavor.
