Here we are in what you folks call a New Year! It really doesn’t seem any different than last week.
Christmas was a wonderful time. Little Sprout and his baby brother enjoyed the season like only a little child can, or a puppy.
We all got nice gifts, I got treats and a new bone, even the cats got catnip mice, which is ‘way better than real mice.
Here is a neat picture I gave to Dad for Christmas, with a photo of ME! Mom got it here https://iheartdogs.com/
It is a good place to shop because, with every sale, they donate to shelters to help feed dogs that don’t have families yet. And they have good treats, toys, blankets, jewelry – all sorts of doggy and cat things.
REVOLUTION
I hear people talking about resolutions this time of year. This scrappy Heeler thought they were saying revolution, and that seems like a reasonable idea to me too. Way back, founding fathers of this country recognized the need for citizens to limit big government, participate actively in running the country, and get rid of self-serving career politicians. They valued liberty and understood what a precious and rare thing it is.
It helps me to appreciate my little ranch every day, to look out for the horses and cows, helping them down the trail if need be, keeping track of the action around here. We all need a focus and purpose.
Like most good cowdogs, I am a warrior at heart. I know what is right, true and good. I will fight to defend that and my people until my last breath. Sometimes a warrior is called to fight. Sometimes, being a warrior means just staying the course with extreme self-discipline, holding in your own soul the knowledge of right and wrong, showing and practicing it.
RESOLUTIONS
Maybe more right resolutions, that people keep, would lessen the need for revolution. What if we practiced a Warrior Reserve mentality every new year when we make a resolution? Think about what a right resolution should be. It should be honorable, merciful, generous to others.
Everyone wants self-improvement, but what could be better there than seeking higher moral ground as a regular practice through the whole new year? Good exercise, climbing that hill.
So my resolution is: be honorable, show mercy, and be generous to others.
I will strive to strengthen a positive, caring, joyful character. I will keep the Warrior ready when I must stand up for right, for joy, for kindness and mercy. If I think about it every morning, and remember to practice it every day, I will be a better dog.
What if everyone made this their resolution? We need goodness and God more than ever these days.
REVIVAL
Some may think we need a miracle. We may get that, with a revival of honor, mercy, generosity. With more people focused on joy, hope, truth, right, good. It is hard to look at your government – any of them – and see much of the clear purpose, organization, encouragement, action that we cowdogs practice every day. We are relentlessly focused on hope and right. Let’s see a revival of this! And every new day that we get to see dawn is a chance to practice it.
I think people need to find their Cowdog Warrior Soul.
I’m going to help with that this year!
Grip Up!
