Let me introduce myself. My name is Ladysmith Liberty Phillips, and I am a genuine ACD. Some would say that is an Australian Cattle Dog, but in my case, an American Cattle Dog. We are also known as Blue or Red Heelers. I am, if you look at my photo, a Red, White and Blue Heeler!
We are focused and persistent. Heelers are, like all cow dogs, very smart. Some may say we are stubborn, hard-headed, even difficult.
But we are loyal to a fault, relentlessly sticking to what we know is right. We possess a permanent Joy de vivre, a joy in life and our purpose that cannot be squashed.
I am a cow dog extraordinaire, if I do say so myself. Semi-retired. I have been known to chase cows in the roughest of country, routing them out of thickets of underbrush where lesser cowdogs fear to tread. We Heelers are born to this kind of work, it is absolutely in our genes. I also have herded wild turkeys, chickens, horses, kids. I am in charge of my family and keep an eye on mom and dad. Give us a job or we’ll make one up on our own.
It would seem right now, the world needs more cow-dogs to get things under control, teach character traits, organize. So I , and a few equally insistent colleagues [maybe a few who are collies!], will serve up advice, photos, jokes, good Heeler gifts and general guidelines for life.
It is a good thing to pay attention to the cow dog. Till next time, practice Heeler Joy de vivre!
