It was a busy weekend here for me. The weather was cool and windy, a little hint of what’s to come, I guess. Last year at this time, we had already brought the horses and cows down from the summer pasture in the mountains and had a nasty winter storm blowing in. It never did return to fall, just kept up with snowstorms every few days.
This isn’t so bad. It is very dry, so there isn’t much grass, and the horses came down on their own to the west pasture.
We got hay in over the weekend, ready for them, still have more to get. My extended herd – the daughter Jessie , her husband and the little boy Mom calls Sprout, help out a lot. They got mom’s washer moved and hooked up, found a leaky drain! They fixed that, too. Sprout and I picked apples, but we still have more to do when the late apples are ready.
I hope we get them before the raccoons and deer do!
Even though winter is coming, this is a season of happy anticipation. The holidays are coming, and I love that. And we have some great things coming up here. Mom and I have good ideas and will offer fun items and freebies, coming soon.
I like to see everything coming together. It is best to plan and prepare. A cowdog likesĀ to be ready.
