It is another smoky sunrise here in Montana, as the west coast and parts of Montana and other states burn. Some of the fires are lightening strikes, some are arson caused. Speaking as a dog with a few quirks, I wonder what is wrong with people? I learned as a young pup, to learn to do a job, focus on doing it right, and persevering even when it was hard. I learned courage in chasing big, mean cows in rough country, but doing it always bravely.
Today I chased some cows. Even though I am mostly retired, mom called on me to help get the neighbors calves out of our pasture. I loved it! Mom says one good cowdog is worth 5 cowboys, and I proved it getting that job done.
The people fighting the fires, the families having to pack up and escape them, are fighting with courage and I applaud that. But there are other people who are starting fires. In the cities, there is outright depravity, with crowds interfering with help and control, rioting, looting, shooting cops. Those people have not learned the lessons I, a mere dog, learned. Lessons on learning a job of value and pursuing it, doing a job that counts, and with courage, commitment and practicing right. There is no honor in these thugs, who seem to be living out in real life, a violent video game.
This is a world gone crazy. We all need to do right, stand up for right, and bravely resist evil. Maybe we need a bunch of good cowdogs in those cities!
