I may be a simple cowdog, but , boy, am I getting tired of all the mindless, foolish, just plain stupid antics of human beings.
Some seem determined to run headlong to rude, crude and dumb, vying for who can display the most unredeeming qualities possible.
While I’d like to get a bunch of us Heelers and cowdog cousins together, and do some serious herding, with plenty of deserved nips, I reckon I should rise above the quagmire and take a higher path.
So I’m here to remind the world that common sense, decency, good manners and integrity are not
old-fashioned traits no longer needed, but are instead the direction we all better be working hard to restore.
Around here, we still…
Say please, thank you and you’re welcome.
Say sir and ma’am.
Hold doors.
Have law enforcement cars that say “In God We Trust”.
Stand for the flag and kneel before the cross.
Get up early and get to work. And we teach our kids the value of hard work.
Believe in the Ten Commandments, knowing that is the basic manual for life on this earth.
Teach right and wrong.
Believe Sunday is a day for worship and rest.
Value our wild-lands and take care of the good earth.
Believe in peace through deterrence – yes, I will defend my place!
Help the poor, the widow, the downtrodden, the young – anytime we can lend a paw, we do it with compassion and joy.
Being better should be a simple thing, a more worthy goal than vitriol. If people can’t manage that, why are they the alpha animal?
Around here, us dogs still know only devotion, kindness, joy and love.
Around here, we still practice common sense, decency, good manners and integrity.
